The hermerocallis murray is a magnificent velvety variety, of an intense brown red that goes well with the yellow or pink flowers of the borders. Also called one day lily because the flowers open and close within a day, this perennial herb of oriental origin has rhizomatous roots and ribbon-like leaves that form a rich and orderly green tuft at the base. The flowers, lightly perfumed and carried on top of stems about 50 cm high, bloom in more or less dense racemes of buds that open in succession generally between June and July. Extremely rustic, the emerocallis prefers the sun or the partial shade and the well fertilized soils, rich in humus and always a little wet.
